Elbasan has a very famous castle, like Berat, but that's not why I stopped here. I had two options to get to Tirana; a long and relatively flat highway or a shorter but much more rugged one. I opted for the advice of the waiter at the Kaçeli Hotel and took the most difficult. I did not regret my choice because the view is phenomenal as will testify the photos later. This alternative involves a two-step ride with a stop in Elbasan and that's what I did. Tomorrow will be a day with a big climb but quite short.
Here's the map of the course.
And without further ado, the photos.
Oil well… Fishermen and hydroelectric dam Mount Tomorr without clouds! Berat wood carving. One of the many unfinished buildings. A dordolec that looks like a scarecrow protects an abandoned gas station… Elbasan Castle Wall The King's Mosque The Municipality of Belsh View of the Ponti Hotel Monument to recall the massacre of the Chams by the Greeks at the end of the Second World War
By pure chance I crossed the tour of Albania by approaching Elbasan.
